No matter how good of a player you are or think you
are, you need to always be searching for ways to improve your game. A
great way to continually improve at poker no matter what your expertise
is to come up with good questions to ask yourself while making a
decision. Some of these questions will stay with you all through your
poker career, while others will be dropped for new ones. The questions
become a very important part of being able to make good decisions. Other
times when you aren’t sure of a hand you might want to ask an expert
player for their opinion on a hand. But always remember hands can be
played in more than one way. With good practice hopefully you will be
able to make the best play.
Whenever you are playing always try to keep an
open mind. Hands can be played in different ways depending on what you
are trying to do. Sometimes you might raise the pot to try and eliminate
players so your hand will win uncontested. Other times you might have a
hand you want everyone to stay in. Another time you might decide to slow
play with a big hand trying to trap someone that always bets when you check. You are
always looking for ways to improve your chances of winning the pot, and
to get maximum value. When the hand is over, ask yourself if you could
of played it in a different that would of made you a better profit or
saved you money.
